In the 28 years since he first walked on stage, Jonathan Levit has entertained in nightclubs and on television, and has worked throughout his career for private and corporate events throughout the world. In addition to being a regular performer at the Magic Castle, he has also been a successful actor in television and film as well as a prominent television host.

Jonathan's notoriety in the world of magic has placed him on the covers of Magic Magazine and Genii Magazine - the two foremost magazines for professional magicians. And, in addition to playing major roles on television, playing the part of a magician, including "The X-Files" and "The Huntress", Jonathan will be seen as the host and a judge on VH-1's "Celebracadabra" - a new celebrity reality magic show premiering in April, 2008.

And, watch for him as the host of "Green With Envy" on the Fine Living network (premiering in March 2008), and as the host of "Paranormal U.S.A." on the Biography channel (premiering in December).

To say Jonathan's evolution as a magician has been anything but typical would not do justice to this successful career. His interest in magic was spawned as an 8 year old, after some intense curiosity and investigation in the basement of his childhood home. The opening of a dresser drawer revealed a font of magic belonging to his father. This would prove to be the beginning of a new path for Jonathan as well as a new bond for he and his dad.

In these early, formative years, Jonathan began to learn his craft while developing a personality that would continue to evolve on stage throughout his life.

His career as a magician would officially begin at the age of 12. This was when he took on the "job" of working as a street performer in the open air plazas of St. Louis, Missouri. No matter the city (Jonathan has been a street performer in St. Louis, Boston and New York), there is no dispute that street performing is among the best ways to hone a craft, stage persona, and one's ability to work with an audience.

Jonathan's first exposure to performing on television also came during this year. His appearance on the Sally Jessy Raphael show, with David Copperfield, is still looked on with fondness and embarrassment. In an attempt to confront his darkest insecurities, the clip will be added to this website in the near future.

From here, Jonathan continued to perform at corporate events, on television spots, festivals - anywhere he could continue to develop and evolve - taking home awards from magic competitions along the way.

As a teenager, Jonathan attended Tannen's magic camp for several years. Yes, it sounds a bit "weird" - magic camp. But, it was here that Jonathan spent time with and learned from some of the best magicians in the world. Any art, especially magic, requires constant training to develop one's technical skill, in addition to performing experience to develop a personality and stage presence. It is this combination that raises a performer to another level and it is this achievement that has set Jonathan apart.

When an audience watches Jonathan in action, whether it be filled with magicians or non-magicians, the feeling is always one of awe for the impact of the magic taking place, as well as one of glee from the entertainment attained from the experience.

Since moving to Los Angeles, in his adult life, Jonathan is seen as a regular performer at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. It is here that the visitor will witness some of the best magicians in the world. It is truly an experience unlike any other. In addition, the entertainment industry has taken in Jonathan. He can be seen on many television shows, as an actor and as an actor playing a magician - most notably, his starring role in one of the the highest rated episodes of the X-Files ("The Amazing Maleeni"). Here, Jonathan joined forces with Ricky Jay (Heist, Magnolia, Tomorrow Never Dies, Boogie Nights) in a plot akin to "The Sting." Using his knowledge of magic, Jonathan was the host of "Miracle Hunters". A series on the Discovery Channel, in which he investigated mysteries and strange phenomena around the world. Several of Jonathan's television clips can be seen in the video section of this website.

Jonathan continues to be a sought after performer for celebrities, corporations and television shows. And, he's having the time of his life.
