If you own Nexus

You do not buy Borrowed Phone. It is included for Nexus owners and unlocks on its own when you get Stranger X. Buy Stranger X and nothing else. The enhanced Borrowed Phone shown in the Release Event is what Nexus plus Stranger X gives you together.

Borrowed Phone, this week PHONE50 Apply it at checkout to take $149 down to $99. Open to everyone, no email needed. Expires October 6 at 11:59pm Pacific.

Free tier: use the owners' email link and put the date you bought The Stranger in it. Your code comes back and there is nothing to pay.

A separate route

If you own the Stranger System

This is the one group the two lines above do not cover.

Your Stranger System keeps working exactly as it does now, in the original Stranger app. It is not part of Stranger X, Stranger X does not replace it, and you do not have to do anything at all.

If you want to move forward, the route is NexusOS, which includes Borrowed Phone. The enhanced Borrowed Phone shown in the Release Event needs both NexusOS and Stranger X. NexusOS is what unlocks it; Stranger X is what makes it the version you saw. You can also skip Nexus entirely and simply take the Stranger X price above.

Setting it straight

Three things people are getting wrong

“Stranger X is just an update. It will show up in my App Store updates.”

It will not. Stranger X is a separate App Store listing, so there is no automatic upgrade. Your original Stranger app stays on your phone and keeps working. You download Stranger X as a new app and unlock it with a code.

“I own Nexus, so I still need to buy Borrowed Phone.”

No. Borrowed Phone is included with Nexus and unlocks automatically in Stranger X. Buy Stranger X and stop there. Paying for Borrowed Phone as well means paying twice for something you already own.

“Stranger X replaces my Stranger System.”

No. Your Stranger System keeps working exactly as it does now, in the original Stranger app. Nothing about it changes. Moving to NexusOS is a choice, not a requirement.

Getting your price

How to claim it

Borrowed Phone needs no email at all. Only the Stranger X owner price does.

1

Borrowed Phone: buy it at the store or in the app and enter PHONE50 at checkout. Nothing to request, nothing to wait for.

2

Stranger X at $99: use the owners' link above. An email opens with the questions already in it — your Stranger ID, the address on your account, and your name.

3

Send it. A reply comes back with your own single-use code. If you do not see it within 24 hours, check your spam or junk folder.

4

Apply the code at checkout, then download Stranger X from the App Store and enter the voucher when the app asks for it.
